Melbourne Commonwealth Games
15th March 2006 – 7:30pm
2 seats in Section M50, Row W.
We were so excited!
Given the hype, the build-up, the publicity, you would have thought we bought tickets months in advance, but no.. we had only thought to go a few days prior. Lets face it, how many Commonwealth Games Opening Ceromonies are in Melbourne, and at the ‘G’. So, a couple of days beforehand, I jumped onto the web and bought 2 tickets from the games web site (official). Later we read, hundreds of complaints about bad seating and poor views, well we couldn’t complain. I joke you not, we were no more than 50 seats away from where the Queen sat in the Northern Stand (brand new).
Our seats were fantastic with an amazing view of the opening ceromony which in itself was an amazing spectacle. The tram coming down off the roof of the stadium with live large in my mind for the rest of my life. The performers, athletes, music, atmosphere, everything was electric.
What a night, what an amazing spectacle Melbourne turns on for the world!
