I am excited! It’s 3rd July 2022 and we’re now solar powered. A long journey ahead, but the aim is to be 100% self sufficient and good for the environment. Selling back to the grid will be a bonus if it happens.
I plan to detail our experience from research, products, installation and statistics. I’m not going to attempt an “all things to all people” because there is a lot of info out there.
Research
OMG there is so much to learn. It’s a steep learning curve.. and just when you think you’re getting your head around it, something else pops up.
While there is plenty of info out there by solar companies, there isn’t a whole lot of ‘independent’ information. One that I did use a lot was SolarQuotes by Finn Peacock. Very down to earth, easy to understand information. Yes, it’s a business but a well informed Australian company.
Don’t under-estimate the road ahead, there is a lot to learn. Hundreds of manufacturers of solar panels and batteries. Once that has been decided, get quotes from any one of the hundreds of installation companies. They will also assist in government rebates and advice on finance.
